Our week at St. V's

So a few weeks ago, Owen started having these screaming fits- and I mean crying, tears, I'm in pain kind of fits. They happened randomly throughout every day, and especially while he was eating. So after many visits to the Pediatrician checking for everything we could at the office, and switching his reflux medication, he was admitted to the Children's Hospital at St. V's. Of course he was poked and prodded... they did blood workups, urine workups, put him to sleep and did ultrasounds and an echocardiogram and a scope of his esophogus and intestines. They even did this test called the Upper GI, where he had to drink barium (yuck) and we could see it going all the way down to his stomach. From all of these tests they pretty much told us that he has bad reflux... well DUH!!! So we left the hospital after 5 days knowing what we have known for over a year. We are going to do some more testing to see if he is having a food allergy and a CT scan of his brain to see if he is having headache activity or it is something neurological.... Since we left the hospital he seems to be feeling a little better, hopefully the stronger reflux meds are doing the trick. The GI doc today told me that "If you can handle it", let's wait a couple more weeks and see if the meds are working.... hmmmm can I handle it???!!! I just smiled. So we will wait. And take meds. And Owen will get lots of hugs and love and kisses and we will hope for the best :) Here are some pics of my big guy at the hospital- and besides being mad at strange people for constantly touching him, he really was a flirt with the nurses and resident doctor...!

Being a trooper after they put the IV in....

I just loved the little hospital footies they gave us... though Owen
would not keep them on to save his life!!!

So of course they had to wrap the IV up like there was no tomorrow so he wouldn't rip it out... took him a while to figure out how to maneuver his daily tasks...

But obviously he was able to still get to his "boogers", even with that big ol' lobster claw... thanks Grammy K for teaching him that one!!!

Hugs for mommy.... he had probably just heard that he gets to go home!
